Named Modern University of the Year 2022 in the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2022, Edge Hill University is a stunning, award-winning 160-acre campus in Lancashire, close to Liverpool and Manchester. The institution has been providing higher education since 1885, with a mission to create opportunity from knowledge.

Edge Hill is ranked as Gold in the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF), the government’s evaluation of excellence in teaching quality, learning environment and student outcomes. The University is also one of the select few to have held the coveted UK University of the Year title, awarded by Times Higher Education (2014/15).

With around 15, 000 current students, Edge Hill University is continually recognised for outstanding achievements in student support, graduate employment and innovation, as well as a significant role in transforming lives.

Services for International Students

Edge Hill has a dedicated centre for international education which can provide support /study-options/postgraduate-and-masters-degree/on visas, employment and accommodation whilst at the University. There is a meet and greet service from Manchester and Liverpool airports for new arrivals, followed by University orientation.

Once settled at the University, students can join the Global Friends programme, which puts current international students in touch with arriving students in order to provide support at the beginning of university life.

Pre-sessional English courses are also offered for undergraduate and postgraduate students, along with international foundation programmes.

Ranking

Edge Hill University has had more than half of its research classed as ‘world-leading’ or ‘internationally excellent’ in the Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2021.

Accommodation

International students are guaranteed a room in halls of residence. All Edge Hill accommodation is based on one campus, so all study and leisure facilities are close at hand. There are five areas of accommodation, holding around 1,700 students. More than two-thirds of rooms offer en suite facilities and 300 are available as catered accommodation.

The Accommodation Team can help students with finding private accommodation near the main campus. The town of Ormskirk has many shared houses and a free bus route and Liverpool is only half an hour away by train.
